Compel Insurance Coverage of Detransition Care and Costs
Problem:
Gender activists consistently pretend that children who undergo sex transitioners almost never have regrets and that detransition is so rare as to be statistically insignificant. This is a lie.
– Those performing pediatric sex transitions often and purposely do not collect data on children manifesting dissatisfaction and remorse, as such data might impact the prevalence of this increasingly common and highly lucrative practice.
– They have also used their considerable influence to persuade insurers to cover pediatric sex transitions but completely exclude from coverage any subsequent detransition costs and services.
– The result is that the many children who experience regret doubly suffer when they learn they are not eligible to receive insurance coverage to reverse their unwanted, medically unnecessary sex transition.
Solution:
Mandate that any insurance company covering pediatric sex transitions must also cover any subsequent detransition care and costs.
– Such mandatory coverage should have no cost cap and should last at least 25 years (no limit would be ideal) from the date of the original transition procedures to allow ample time for the child to reach an age of maturity when he or she will be capable of more informed introspection.
– It would also allow the medical industry sufficient time to properly study the long-term consequences of pediatric sex transitions, something gender proponents have intentionally discouraged and dismissed, lest it interrupt or interfere with their plans to normalize radical gender ideology and impose it on all of society.
Why this works:
Mandating detransition coverage will help break the conspiracy among gender activists to marginalize detransitioners. It will defeat the lie that children almost never have regrets concerning the irreversible changes and damage done to their healthy, adolescent bodies.
