Implement a Merit-Based Lottery for Medical School Admissions
Problem:
Medical schools continue to discriminate against applicants based on race, as evidenced by Do No Harm’s “Skirting SCOTUS” reports. As a result, white and Asian students must have far better scores to gain acceptance.
Solution:
Require medical schools to set minimally acceptable Grade Point Average (GPA) and Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) score standards for admission, after which all qualifying applicants would be entered into a lottery, with the matriculating class selected from the lottery at random.
Why this works:
A system that combines GPA and MCAT merit with pure chance would defeat the relentless efforts of DEI adherents to game the system to achieve their own preferred outcomes. Under the watchful eye of your state legislature, a school could ensure a fair medical school admissions process that could easily be adjusted to expand or shrink the applicant pool consistent with the unique needs of your state.
